Nexus startups from the sixth cohort of its pre-incubation program received a week-long training in January on how to connect to markets and build evidence for their product market fit. Dr. Cliff Zintgraff from the IC² Institute at The University of Texas at Austin shared his experience as an entrepreneur, coach and mentor through sessions on Evidence-Based Entrepreneurship.

Focused on “building their core,” the entrepreneurs were challenged to connect with individual customers and stakeholders in their markets and to incorporate that information into their products and venture plans.

The in-depth interviews conducted by the entrepreneurs allowed them to practically implement their newly acquired knowledge from Cliff’s classes. They came back with a deeper awareness of why and how they must constantly listen to the “voice of the market” to improve their market understanding and successfully build their ventures.

Dr. Zintgraff spent fifteen years as a software developer, manager and executive in startups before building his own ed-tech company. He has earned a master’s degree in Technology Commercialization and a doctorate in Learning Technologies. He has delivered education, training and mentorship sessions for hundreds of startups in five countries and has run programs in entrepreneurship and STEM education for business, research, and non-profits.
