Nexus-supported startup RoadBounce was selected for a prestigious program by Village Capital, a venture capital firm that trains and invests in early-stage ventures solving major global problems. Village Capital, in partnership with global philanthropic investment firm Omidyar Network, will host Civic Tech India 2018, which is the first civic technology event ever held in India. With this program Village Capital and Omidyar Network aim to support India’s growing ecosystem of civic tech startups.
Civic technology strengthens the relationship between citizens and their government. By supporting the chosen startups Village Capital and Omidyar hope to help increase citizen engagement in government systems and within their own communities. As one of the chosen startups, RoadBounce will partake in a serious of workshops which connect these startups with companies, investors, and potential strategic partners, as well as customers.
RoadBounce was part of the second cohort of Nexus. RoadBounce is a mobile technology application that automatically detects road conditions which could potentially save governments and road contractors up to 50% on maintenance costs. Using real time road assessments, road maintenance could be improved and road accidents could be reduced. They surveyed more than 40,000 kilometers (25,000 miles) and reported GPS-tagged locations of potholes within a short span of 2 months. Learn more about them at www.roadbounce.com.
