S4S Technologies, a Nexus startup from the 1st cohort, won the DBS-NUS Social Venture Challenge Asia 2018 in October. The competition was jointly organized by the Development Bank of Singapore Limited and the National University of Singapore. S4S was adjudged the best out of a total 870 entries from 42 Asian countries and earned itself a cash reward of 50,000 Singaporean dollars (approximately $36,500 USD).
S4S Technologies is a for-profit, research-based enterprise, highly focused on developing sustainable food preservation technologies. Solar Conduction Dryer (SCD) is S4S’s flagship product and is being used by over 1200 farmers in eight countries. SCD is used for dehydration of a range of agri-food products suitable for farm and commercial operations.
