With the launch of its sixth cohort in December 2018, Nexus added yet another group of innovative startups to its ever growing portfolio.
After a rigorous selection process, 16 startups were selected from over 100 applications. These startups will undergo an intensive 9-week “pre-incubation” program where they will be trained in practical topics of entrepreneurship such as finances, market validation, intellectual property, funding and more.
With startups from Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, the South Asian flavor continues to be present in the sixth cohort as well. The inclusion of five entrepreneurs from Nexus’ South Asian Connect program is done with the aim of increasing regional economic activity and prosperity through entrepreneurship.
As Nexus is sector agnostic, the startups have a wide variety of products/services ranging from early screening and treatment for developmental disorders such as autism to India’s biggest range of handcrafted and certified fat free vegan ice pops and gelatos.
Once the startups graduate the program in March, a select few will be offered the chance for long-term incubation of up to eight additional months at the Nexus Center.
