Nexus celebrated its one year anniversary with a graduation ceremony honoring its third cohort of 11 impressive startups on April 5, 2018. The 11 graduating startups were chosen from over 175 applications received from across India. These startups underwent an intense 10-week pre-incubation training program that featured a structured Innovation Readiness program and workshops led by expert speakers and industry leaders from India and the United States.

The 11 startups were from diverse industry sectors with a great potential to contribute to an already thriving Indian entrepreneurial ecosystem. Four startups were also selected for long term incubation at Nexus. During the long term incubation these companies will be provided with the resources, mentoring and networking support to scale up their businesses.

The U.S. Embassy’s Director of Programs, Mr. Richard Pinkham, addressed the graduating startups. He congratulated all the startups and advised them to continue on their growth path by availing themselves of the resources and expertise offered by Nexus.

The graduating startups made two-minute lightning pitches in front of the audience which include different startups stakeholders including Nexus board members from FICCI and TiE. Some of the technologies like a sand filter by Taral Engineering, an alternative to Styrofoam by Kanpur Flowercycling and the Junaking scrubber by Laemorian Technologies exhibited their products to the audience. The attendees also interacted with other Nexus-supported startups during the reception following the ceremony.

Director General of FICCI, Mr. Dilip Chenoy, and Executive Director of TiE Delhi-NCR, Ms. Geetika Dayal, along with Interim Executive Director of the IC² Institute of The University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Gregory Pogue, engaged the audience by sharing their experience and informing about how they are supporting innovations and entrepreneurship across the world.
