Nexus celebrated its graduation ceremony by honoring its fifth cohort of 15 impressive startups on November 2, 2018. The 15 graduating startups were chosen from over 135 applications received from across India. Five startups who were part of the South Asia Connect program also joined us from Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh, making it our first truly international cohort.

These startups underwent an intense 10-week pre-incubation training program that featured a structured Innovation Readiness program and workshops led by expert speakers and industry leaders from India and the United States. Fifteen selected startups were from diverse industry sectors having a great potential to contribution to an already thriving Indian entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Five startups – Air Eye, YNA Enterprises, CityFilters, Avrio Energy and Fertility Dost – were also selected for long-term incubation at Nexus. During the long-term incubation these companies will be provided with the resources, mentoring and networking support to scale up their businesses.

U.S. Embassy Country Public Affairs Officer David H. Kennedy addressed the graduating startups. He congratulated all the startups and advised them to continue on their growth path by availing themselves of the resources and expertise offered by Nexus.

The graduating startups made three minute lightning pitches in front of Nexus board members from FICCI, USAID, DST, ISB and other ecosystem partners. Several technologies from cohort companies were exhibited to the audience, including air filters for vehicles by CityFilters, solar home systems by Himalayan Innovation and smart paints by StartShield Technologies.

After working with the selected startups for the 10-week intensive pre-incubation program, Nexus Director Erik Azulay mentioned that Nexus prepares startups to adopt the best global practices for incubation and entrepreneurship, which helps them to grow their businesses and enter the market successfully.

Nexus is now accepting applications for its 6th cohort. Interested startups can apply here.
