Nexus co-partnered with FICCI and NITI Ayog to co-host the Road to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) Series program in Delhi on November 14, 2017.The focus of the program was on celebrating and empowering women in entrepreneurship sector. Nexus is proud to host and support FICCI in growing the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Delhi with a focus on women entrepreneurs.

The event featured the participation of eminent women leaders and entrepreneurs including Meenakshi Lekhi, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, New Delhi; Poonam Mahajan, National Jt. Treasurer, FLO and CEO, Signage Systems India; Aparna Saroagi, Executive Chairperson, WEE Foundation, New Delhi; Rina Dhaka, Fashion Designer, Member FDCI; Dr. Bindu Dey, Secretary, Technology Development Board, GoI; Padmaja Ruparel, Co-Founder IAN and Founding Partner IAN Fund, Indian Angel Network; and Padma Shri Shahnaz Husain, CEO, Shahnaz Herbals Inc.

It was attended by industry leaders, start-ups, serial entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, angel investors as well as enablers of the innovation ecosystem including the government, international agencies and industry associations.

The stakeholders deliberated on several aspects related to start-ups such as finance, investment, mentoring and human capital. U.S. Embassy Cultural Affair Officer Craig Dicker addressed the audience as a Chief Guest and focused on how women are changing the entrepreneurial landscape in India. It was followed by a panel discussion on the Role of Entrepreneurship in the Empowerment of Women.

Meenakshi Lekhi, Member of Parliament, said that women need to be empowered if the nation is to prosper. She expressed that such forums and programs help translate such dreams into action. She went on to say that women in the villages inherit many skills which can be further developed and there is a need to provide institutional support to these women.

Rina Dhaka, eminent fashion designer, said that there is need to overcome the conservative mindset of family before women can venture into the world of fashion and business.

Nexus Innovation Hub hosts these highly interactive sessions at the American Center including panel discussions, pitching sessions, interactive webcasts, masterclasses etc. for the development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
