The United States and India hosted the 8th iteration of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) November 28-30 in Hyderabad. To mark the occasion, Nexus culminated its two months of Road-to-GES programing on 28th November with a panel discussion and networking reception. The discussion was followed by a televised screening of the GES opening ceremony from Hyderabad.

The panel discussion – “The Entrepreneur’s Ease of Doing Business” – examined the conditions faced by Indian startups and entrepreneurs. The panel included Shihab Ansari Azhar, Private Sector Specialist, Trade and Competitiveness India World Bank Group; Digvijay Singh, Chief Operating Officer, Indian Angel Network; Amit Agrawal, Founder, OckyPocky and India Goes Global Pvt Ltd. The panel discussion was moderated by Himanshu Rattan, Director, Infrastructure, Government and Healthcare (IGH) Practice, KPMG.

The panel discussion was joined by the leaders of the NCR entrepreneurship ecosystem to discuss the landscape encountered by Indian startups, including regulatory hurdles, access to capital, and constraints in such areas as procurement, infrastructure and talented human resources. The panel discussed the current situation in contrasts with the recent past and how they see the ease of doing business in India evolving for startups of all sizes.

After the panel discussion live televised screening of the GES opening ceremony and networking reception was hosted. The audience was excited to listen to the opening remarks of Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi and Advisor to the President, Ivanka Trump.
